
October roundup: A month of glowing feedback and site visits
Here’s your October monthly roundup, and what a great October it has been!
I’ve loved spending quality time at the venue, supporting the operations and reservations team this month, and welcoming potential clients with exciting 2024 and 2025 projects.
It’s been lovely to see the events I booked months ago come to life, whether it was the 220-delegate Comms Conference with personalised welcome boxes, a photo booth, and a fortune wheel of prizes, or the hybrid event for over 100 social workers, which incorporated both in-person and virtual speakers, providing a safe and welcoming place for workshops and networking.
Glowing Feedback
When I cover the reservations desk, I usually sit in the reception area, and one of my favourite parts of the day is listening to people chatting as they wait for the lift as they leave the venue. It’s where you hear honest feedback about the space, food, and meeting content. It is a wonderful boost and makes me beam every time. This is reflected in the fact that after 10 years, 100% of clients have said they would return to Horizon Leeds.
Speaking of feedback, we’ve received some fantastic comments this month:
- “Just wanted to drop a quick note to say thanks to you and your team for hosting our away day. We had a great day and thought the venue was ideal for the occasion.”
- “This was by far the best event we’ve done this year and the feedback is glowing!”
- “Thanks so much for your and the team’s help with the event last week. It all went really well, and we’ll definitely be back! 😄”

We are all extremely passionate about what we have to offer here at Horizon Leeds, and this shows that three of us have celebrated our 10-year work anniversary this year.
Embracing Busy Site Visits
Due to how busy we are this time of year; site visits often have to be early in the morning or during lunch breaks so I can show clients the meeting rooms. I used to be wary of inviting them during lunch breaks as it can be busy, but I’ve really embraced it this year. It’s a great opportunity for them to see how their event could run, exactly what the food looks like, how 200 people look in the space, and the lovely atmosphere a full venue creates.
Planning for 2025 Conferences
This month’s site visits have focused on 2025 conferences for 150+ attendees, which I love to get involved with at the conception stage. You can provide advice on how the venue can shape the agenda. There have been lots of talks around tying in wellbeing workshops, whether that be through ‘netwalking’ or yoga sessions. Have you ever incorporated well-being workshops into your events?
Networking Highlights
As you know, I love networking, and although this month has been quieter, I have still attended at least once a week. Shout out to Arminder Purewal, who runs the FBS Leeds network, and Fiona Ibbetson at Get Ahead, who has started Get Connected Leeds. They are such welcoming events and have a great mix of attendees.
Client Outreach Mission
When I haven’t been enjoying the buzz of the venue, I’ve been on a client outreach mission, touching base with clients from the past three years and seeing how we can support them. It’s a great opportunity to learn about what they are currently doing within their businesses and also share the new Horizon Leeds promo video, especially with new starters within their businesses. Looking Ahead to November
So, as I pop on my out-of-office, ready to spend some time with the kids over half term, I am excited to see what November brings. I would love to say I will come back rested however with 3 girls under 7 those days have well and truly gone. However, I know that come November 1st I will be eager to jump feet first into November ready for the challenges that the busiest month Horizon Leeds will have ever experienced will bring!
