It doesn’t take much to see why the Create@ is one of our most popular rooms, especially for large conferences and training events. With a capacity of up to 200 people when arranged in a theatre style, everyone can enjoy the day in comfort and style – especially considering the room’s bright and airy feel. A little bit of history

Create@ is the mothership of Horizon Leeds and has evolved massively since we opened in 2014. As soon as I saw the floorplan of the 3rd floor of 2 Brewery Wharf, I just knew this room had lots of potential, especially considering its floor to ceiling windows that gives the room plenty of light. The design process was also the easiest of all the venues rooms, which always seems to be the case with larger spaces. Most of the design work was done in the ceiling voids to improve heating and ventilation and since then LED lighting throughout, ensuring that our clients would feel comfortable throughout the day.

Keeping up with technology

The AV has evolved over the past seven years with the venue and has meant we are able to continue to win awards for the fantastic tech we have onsite.

We felt that our old screens restricted useability on format size and looked rather dated. But rather than throwing them away we were able to donate them to our local hospital. Adding the additional projector has made the space so much more versatile. Three projectors ensures that wherever the delegate is sat in the room they have full sight of the presentation. We also have the flexibility to resize the projections and can create a smaller version of content so that it can sit above the panel/speakers.

So now we have your presentations sorted we should move on to the audio. Integrated PA system, it’s a given, right? The system also has a recording function enabling the client to record the plenary and panel sessions which provides the ability to reflect on important discussions and share a wealth of information to a wider audience.

Mics; we have plenty of handhelds and lapels, great for audience questions and those speakers that like to wander the stage. Plus, our catch box, a throwable mic, is great for delegate interaction and saves on audience paddles and runners – genius! This is all finished off nicely with an integrated gooseneck lectern mic for speakers that feel at home at the lectern. All sound including mics can be controlled by a touch screen panel in the room, so you have full control over your event.

So how can Create@ be used?

Now the AV is up and ready to go, we need some delegates. 220 in a theatre set up, 153 in cabaret or 72 in classroom all fit comfortably on our lovely long sit chairs. Filtered sparkling and still water ensures everyone stays hydrated throughout the day. All this comes as standard, along with the projectors, a PA system and lectern.

Create@ is the perfect space for plenary sessions and with some great syndicate rooms and a bright open networking space which runs alongside it, it makes for a great exclusive use conference venue.

Tabletop exhibitions work well, with capacity for up to 36 tabletops and over 70 plug sockets it’s a great event space for clients to showcase their services, facilities, and products.

Here at Horizon Leeds, we love hosting dinners especially award ceremonies. Comfortably seating up to 140 delegates and with a blank canvas to theme as you like, some mouth-watering, locally sourced food options it’s a city centre venue option not to be overlooked.

During COVID-19 pandemic, we transformed Create@ into a purpose-built COVID-secure streaming studio, which caters for both virtual and hybrid events. An onsite fully equipped TV-style studio, which allows for speakers to present to a virtual audience. As the events industry evolves, we have now been able to open this up to hybrid events so all delegates, whether that be in the venue or online, can experience the same fantastic event.

Although the demand has now returned to in-person events we understand that for some sectors having a studio set up is still vital to their businesses, which is why we’ve rebranded the Virtual & Hybrid Streaming Studio to the Broadcast Studio and have given it a permanent home at Horizon Leeds.
